A Goodbye & A Hello [About Us]

Although many of you might have already heard, it is with a happy and sad heart that I give you the news that MSP’s wonderful assistant and second shooter, Loren, will be moving to LA :) She is an incredibly talented artist with a passion not only for photography but for fashion… and in every way, she defines trendiness and all things stylish :) So it was only fitting that an amazing company in Los Angeles would offer her the internship of a lifetime directly involved in fashion and public relations! This opportunity will, without a doubt, open so many doors for her and her sweet hubby, Caleb – and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them!! This past year with Loren has been an awesome one – I feel so blessed to have met her :) She has been a wonderful addition to Mustard Seed, creating some of the most gorgeous images I have ever seen! And personally – we have become great friends :) I cherish her so much, and while it makes me sad (sniff, sniff!!) that she will be moving so far away, I know that this new journey she is headed on will be an amazing one! That… and I know that I’ll be visiting her at least once during her 3-month internship in LA! :)

While saying goodbye to Loren is bittersweet, it also brings great changes for Mustard Seed! I’m so happy to introduce our newest partner in crime, Jen – who joined us back in April to train directly underneath Loren at weddings and sessions! Jen is also a great artist, having studied photography over the last few years. You might actually recognize Jen, since she is a past client of Mustard Seed herself!! Jen and her hubby, Adam, joined us twice over the last year for some of my favorite sessions of all time: their Hill Country Session from last summer, and their Powder Paint Session from late last year! She is a lover of all things creative, from sewing to just about every DIY project you can imagine – she’s had her hands in just about anything crafty! Not only did she design Mustard Seed’s packaging (which I promise I’ll do a blog post on in the future!) – she also inspired a design change for my entire brand :) Her creativity and enthusiasm is so contagious, I couldn’t be happier to have her on the team! In her past life, she taught for 9 years before deciding to embark on this new adventure with Mustard Seed –  she brings with her a fresh pair of eyes and an inspired creativity! :) I can’t wait for you all to meet her in person if you haven’t already – you are sure to love her instantly!

There’s Loren (above) capturing Jen nearly a year ago! Who would have thought that all of our paths would have intertwined the way they have now :) It warms my heart thinking about it!

I hope you’ll join me in welcoming Jen to our little MSP family :) And also in wishing Loren the biggest congratulations and the best of luck in her new venture! :) Every year, I feel more and more blessed to have this life… this company… blessed for the people I get to meet, and especially for the people that I get to work beside – it makes our job so much fun and keeps a smile on our faces! I know this year will without a doubt be as good as the last – and I can’t wait to see where Mustard Seed is in another year!

Be safe, Lolo :) We’ll miss you! ♥

Shanel + Ray [Wedding: The Bell Tower on 34th]

Shanel + Ray - Married on April 20, 2013 - The Bell Tower on 34th

Their Story & Proposal
This sweet couple’s love story started back in their freshman year at Rice when Ray first saw his bride during their MATH 211 class :) It wasn’t until winter of their sophomore year that a friendship developed, over phone calls and a shared love of movies :) As their sophomore year came to a close, they each returned home for the summer. With lots of time  to think on her own, Shanel realized her feelings for Ray – and Ray (who had already been in love with her) decided to leave an epic voicemail declaring his affections! It wasn’t long after that in May of 2007, that this lovely couple was born :)

Shanel & Ray’s wedding was without a doubt one of the uniquest, sweetest, and most personalized weddings that we have been to all year :) Like something straight out of a movie, their wedding embodied the best love scenes from all of their favorite films – including an awesome dance down the aisle by Shanel to her groom! It was so much fun to be a part of their special day, and I can’t wait to share a few of my favorites with you now! Hope you enjoy!

Shanel & Ray – Thank you so much for sharing your lovely day with us! We wish you all the best in this awesome new life, and tons of good luck as you make it through your residencies!!

Lauren + Adam [After Wedding Session: Moscow, TX]

You might remember Lauren & Adam from their gorgeous wedding back in February – you can totally check that blog out here! Well I was beyond excited when they scheduled an After Wedding Session because I knew it would give us the opportunity to get extra creative photos, both in and out of their wedding attire :) We met in Moscow, Texas on a gorgeous tree farm and although it took a while for the sun to come out, it couldn’t have been a more perfect day. I was lucky enough to shoot mostly film for their session and chose many of my favorites to share with you today! Hope you enjoy!

Lauren – you are so breathtakingly beautiful :)

Guys – thanks for always trusting me and being up for just about anything :) I can’t wait to do this again soon – let’s plan on every 6 months, okay?? :) Hugs!!

Lauren’s after wedding photo shoot at our farm in Moscow, TX! And I asked her why do you want to shoot photos there? She had the right idea…sweet pictures at a very sentimental family treasure.

Style Me Pretty [Featured]

It’s been a great week for us! With 2 features in a row on 2 of our favorite blogs, we are literally over the moon :) Today we had the pleasure of seeing Lauren & John’s gorgeous nautically inspired wedding at the Lakewood Yacht Club featured on Style Me Pretty! We couldn’t be happier, since their wedding was a stunner! You probably remember seeing their engagement session from last year, which was also featured on Style Me Pretty earlier this year :) Well, I’ve been on the edge of my seat waiting to share it with you, and I’m so glad to finally be able to do that! Be sure to head over to Style Me Pretty – Texas to check it out :) It’s a gorgeous one you don’t want to miss!
